Footpath Map Trotternish Ridge Portree to Flodigarry

The Trotternish Ridge is a giant escarpment of basalt lavas dating from the Tertiary age resting on a weaker sedimentary rock of earlier Jurassic age. Over time the sedimentary rocks have given way to the great weight of the lavas, resulting in enormous land slides and the creation of awesome labyrinths of stone. The landscape is Tolkienesque and bears evocative names such as the Quiraing. The ridge is approximately 19 miles long and takes 2 days to walk with an ascent in excess of 2400m. This laminated, zigzag map is 1:16000 scale and perfect for exploring the ridge.
