Some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Britain is revealed in this walking guide, which covers the 233km (145 mile) John o' Groats Trail. Presented in 14 stages, the long-distance route for experienced walkers traces Scotland's coastline from Inverness to John o' Groats (famed for its close proximity to the most northerly tip of mainland Britain), reaching progressively more challenging terrain as it travels north towards the wild cliff-tops of Caithness. Also included are 3 bonus stages which provide a link from Drumnadrochit on the Great Glen Way, for the benefit of 'LEJOG' challengers walking the whole way from Land's End to John o' Groats or anyone else wishing to link the two trails. The guide provides detailed description of each day's walking, along with custom-drawn stage-by-stage route maps and photographs of key points of interest. The main route description is from south to north, but notes are included for the third of walkers who choose to complete the trail in reverse.
