The Great Glen Way runs for 77 miles (124 km)
along Scotland’s Great Glen between Fort William
and Inverness. It follows the historic Caledonian
Canal and runs beside four of the Highlands’
loveliest lochs, including Loch Ness, famous for its
monster legend and for Urquhart Castle. SecLons
of the High Route provide glorious views over Loch
Ness. Low-lying secLons offer easy walking along
canal towpath and old railway trackbed. The Great
Glen is rich in history, canal heritage and wildlife.

colour photos and 13 pages carrying detailed
route mapping at 1:38,000. It covers several
recent route updates affecLng choices in 2024 and
2025, and includes the newly opened High Route
near Abriachan taking the route to a new high of
